With an almost full moon shining over The Arcades the Gap Filler and Ministry of Awesome teams were joined by 50 guests to celebrate our first CHCH SOUP.  Seven awesome ideas were pitched for the pot (which reached $700!) making voting very difficult. However, Lorna and Keishana’s Opti-Mum project won.

Opti-Mum aims to deliver holistic antenatal courses to empower NZ women and the funds raised will go towards getting the project off the ground. Learn more by watching their interview on TV Internet channel The Daily Fix here.

With tears sparkling in her eyes, Keishana said “I’m really stoked! I can’t believe we won. I’m really happy that people are prepared to support us”

Gap Filler Project Co-ordinator, Bec May, was ecstatic the night was such a success.  “Raising $700 on a mid-winter evening really demonstrates how willing people are to support the future of our city”.

The soup was created with locally sourced vegetables from GardenCity2.0 by local chef Alex Davies, the bread cooked in the onsite wood-fired oven by Aleisha McGilligan and hot chocolate provided by Benito Chocolate, perfect for a mid-winter evening.

Driven by the success of the evening, the Gap Filler and Ministry of Awesome team are already planning the next night for Spring!
