Thanks to a gang of volunteers we rolled out the green carpet at The Commons last weekend. We’re now a step closer to our vision (to be a welcoming, ever-evolving community space. A space that connects people to their inner-city and to each other). Read more about what we’re trying to achieve here: www.thecommons.org.nz/about/

The grassing of the south-west side of the site was the final stage of the Pallet Pavilion’s deconstruction and the first stage of new projects by Gap Filler and by others here. The Commons is a project that aims to be greater than the sum of its parts. To do that, it needs your input and involvement. Lots of people were part of our Pallet Pavilion community. We want to invite you back here but also invite new people here, too.

The weather was amazing and we celebrated with pizza from the pizza oven We also gave the grass its first watering with water we drew from the nearby Avon River/Ōtākaro).

There will be more Gap Filler projects here at The Commons this Spring and Summer, but also YOUR events and projects, too. We want to let you know that the green space at The Commons and The Arcades are available for use for your events and projects this Spring and Summer, so get in touch if you want to use them. Markets, concerts, projects and more are welcome. Please see http://www.thecommons.org.nz/about/
